C Caroline Lowe Google review · Verified ★★★★★

After a leak was detected near my driveway, Kevin very carefully jack-hammered through and found the leaking pipe. He removed the pipe, replaced it with a new one, cemented over it and very neatly finished the surface. Kevin is an excellent plumber and problem solver — I would recommend him for any plumbing job.

Common questions

General questions

What does "Leak Found or It's FREE*" actually mean?
Exactly what it says — if we attend your property, conduct our full investigation using thermal imaging, acoustic and tracer gas equipment, and we cannot locate the source of your leak, we will not charge you a cent. No invoice, no call-out fee, nothing. We only charge when we find the leak. It applies to residential properties only, and the leak must be larger than 10 litres per hour. That's our guarantee.
How do you find leaks?
We use a combination of thermal imaging cameras, acoustic listening devices and tracer gas detection. Thermal cameras show temperature anomalies caused by water under slabs or behind walls. Acoustic equipment lets us hear the specific sound signature of pressurised water escaping a pipe. Together these allow us to pinpoint the exact location before a single tile is lifted or a wall is opened.
How much does leak detection cost?
We'll talk you through the cost before we start, with no hidden costs. The cost varies depending on the type and complexity of the leak, but you'll know what you'll pay before we begin. Call us or submit a quote request and we'll give you a clear price straightaway.
Do you provide reports for insurance claims?
Yes. After every job we provide a full written report including photos of the leak location, the detection method used and the repair completed. This documentation is exactly what most insurers require for a successful claim, and we're experienced at producing reports in the format insurers need.
How quickly can you attend?
We offer same-day service across the Sunshine Coast in most cases, and true 24/7 emergency response for burst pipes and active leaks. When you call, we'll confirm our earliest available time — typically within a few hours for non-emergency jobs, and as fast as possible for emergencies.
I received a notification from Unitywater that I have a leak on my property.
Unitywater are now replacing water meters with smart water meters that can detect if you have a leak on your property. Sometimes the leak may not be a concealed leak — it could be something as simple as a toilet running constantly, a hot water system relief valve dripping, or a tap that won't fully shut off. But in most cases, a Unitywater notification indicates an underground concealed leak or a leak behind a wall that you simply can't see. These types of leaks require specialised detection equipment to locate — which is exactly what we do. Give us a call and we can help you track it down quickly.
My water bill has gone up — could I have a leak?
Almost certainly, yes. A sudden or unexplained increase in your water bill is one of the most common signs of an underground or slab leak. Even a small pinhole leak under pressure can waste thousands of litres per day. If your bill has increased without a change in usage, call us — an inspection will quickly confirm whether you have a leak and where it is.
Are you plumbers or just leak detectors?
We are licensed plumbers who specialise in leak detection. This means we understand exactly how water systems are installed — water mains, concealed water pipes, underground pipes — and we understand how and why they leak. Unlike leak detection-only companies, as licensed plumbers we can also offer repairs. Once a leak is detected, we can provide you with a quote to repair it on the spot, saving you the hassle of calling a separate plumber. One call, fully sorted.
What suburbs do you service?
We service the entire Sunshine Coast — from Caloundra in the south to Noosa in the north, and out to the hinterland and everywhere in between. If you're on the Sunshine Coast, we can get to you.

Common questions

Leak Detection questions

How do you detect leaks without digging?
We use a combination of thermal imaging cameras, acoustic listening devices and tracer gas technology. Each method works differently and together they give us a complete picture of where the water is escaping.
How long does leak detection take?
Most residential leak detections are completed within 1–2 hours. Complex underground or slab leaks may take a little longer.
What if you can't find the leak?
If we run our full investigation and genuinely cannot locate the source, we won't charge you a cent. That's our Leak Found or It's FREE* guarantee — residential properties only, and subject to the leak being over 10 litres per hour.
Can you repair the leak once found?
Yes — as licensed plumbers we can provide a repair quote on the spot and carry out the work, saving you the hassle of calling a separate plumber.

Common questions

Underground Leaks questions

How do I know if I have an underground leak?
Common signs include a water bill that's higher than usual, wet patches on dry days, sinkholes or soft spots in your lawn, or a water meter that keeps ticking when all taps are off.
Will you have to dig up my whole driveway?
No. We locate the leak precisely first using acoustic and tracer gas equipment, then excavate only at the confirmed point.
How deep can you detect leaks?
Our equipment can detect leaks at significant depth — most residential underground pipes are within 600mm–1.2m of the surface, well within our detection range.
Can you repair the pipe once found?
Yes — as licensed plumbers we carry out the repair, reinstate the surface and leave your property neat. One call, fully sorted.

Common questions

Burst Pipe Repairs questions

What should I do if I have a burst pipe?
Turn off your water at the main shutoff valve immediately — this is usually located near your water meter at the front of the property. Then call us.
Will my insurance cover a burst pipe?
Most home and contents policies cover sudden and accidental water damage from burst pipes. We can provide a written report to support your claim.
How long does a burst pipe repair take?
Most burst pipe repairs are completed within a few hours. More complex repairs — such as pipes under concrete — may take longer.

Common questions

Emergency Plumbing questions

What counts as a plumbing emergency?
A burst pipe, major water leak, flooding, or any situation where water is causing or about to cause significant damage to your property qualifies as a plumbing emergency.
Do you charge extra for after-hours callouts?
We'll always talk you through the cost before we start, so you know where you stand before any work begins.
What should I do while waiting for you to arrive?
Turn off the water at your main shutoff valve to stop more water escaping. Take photos of the damage for insurance purposes. Move valuables away from affected areas.
Can you help with insurance claims?
Yes — we provide detailed written reports for insurance purposes, covering the cause of the emergency, damage observed, repair method and materials used.

Common questions

Shower Leak Detection questions

How do I know if my shower is leaking?
Common signs include water stains on ceilings below the bathroom, damp or mouldy walls adjacent to the shower, soft or springy flooring, or rising water bills with no other explanation.
Do you have to remove tiles to find the leak?
No — we use thermal imaging and moisture meters to map the leak without removing tiles. Our report will tell you exactly what's leaking and where before any remediation begins.
Can you fix the shower leak?
As licensed plumbers we can repair leaking supply pipes, wastes and fittings. For membrane and waterproofing failures, we'll refer you to a licensed waterproofer and can provide them with our detailed report.
Will my insurance cover a leaking shower?
It depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden and accidental damage is usually covered; gradual leaks may not be. Our written report will clearly state the cause, which helps your insurer assess the claim.

Common questions

Gas Leak Detection questions

What should I do if I smell gas?
Don't turn any switches on or off. Don't use your phone inside. Leave the building immediately and call us from outside.
How do you find a gas leak?
We use electronic gas detectors that sense even tiny concentrations of gas. We also pressure test the system to identify sections with loss.
Is it safe to stay in the house during gas leak detection?
We'll assess the situation when we arrive. In most cases we'll isolate the gas supply first, ventilate the area, and then carry out detection work safely.
Can you repair the gas leak on the same visit?
In most cases yes — we carry common fittings and materials to complete repairs on the spot. We'll give you a clear quote before starting any repair work.

Common questions

Water Service Repairs questions

How do I know if my water main is leaking?
Signs include a water meter that ticks even when all taps are off, wet patches on your driveway or lawn on dry days, reduced water pressure, or a Unitywater smart meter notification.
Is the water main my responsibility?
Yes — the section of water main from the water meter to your home is your responsibility as the property owner. Unitywater own and maintain the main up to the meter.
How much does it cost to repair a water main?
The cost depends on the depth and location of the leak and the repair method required. We provide a clear upfront quote before starting any work.
How long will the repair take?
Most water service repairs are completed within a day. We'll give you a clear timeline when we assess the job.
